Czech Appeal

By Ralph Schoenman

In response to Czechoslovakia (January 2, 1969)

To the Editors:

The appeal on behalf of Czechoslovaks under threat which you published in your January 2 issue is a slightly modified version of the appeal currently being circulated by Bertrand Russell and signed by many hundreds of prominent persons including Henry Moore, André Gorz, Mihailo Markovic, Conor Cruise O'Brien, Susan Sontag, Herbert Marcuse, Mary McCarthy, James Baldwin, Eldridge Cleaver and many others. This appeal is preparatory to a conference on Czechoslovakia originated by the Russell Foundation. We welcome further support in the form of financial contributions and political association.
