Wordsworth

By Robert Langbaum

In response to The Greatness of Wordsworth* (January 28, 1965)

To The Editors:

I appreciate the kind reference to me in Christopher Ricks's review of Geoffrey Hartman's Wordsworth's Poetry in your issue of January 28. It is true that I went wrong, in the original edition of my book The Poetry of Experience, on the physical details of the rowing incident in The Prelude. I want to point out that these details have been corrected in the paperback edition of my book published by Norton in 1963.
