The Irving Howe Lecture

By Morris Dickstein

To the Editors:

The sixth annual Irving Howe Memorial Lecture will be delivered by George Kateb, professor of politics at Princeton, at 6 PM on Thursday, November 15, in the Proshansky Auditorium of the CUNY Graduate Center, 365 Fifth Avenue (at 34th Street). The subject is "Undermining the Constitution." There will be a response from David Richards of the NYU Law School and an introduction by David Bromwich of Yale. These lectures, sponsored by the Center for the Humanities, honor the late critic, editor, and political writer who taught at the City University of New York from 1963 to 1986. The lectures are made possible by a generous gift from Mr. Max Palevsky. They are free and open to the public. For more information call the Center for the Humanities at (212) 817-2005.
