To the Editors:

A company called the Books for Libraries Press has just reissued an old book of mine called The American Jitters. Most of the material in this book had already been reprinted and copyrighted in The American Earthquake, published by Doubleday, so the action of Books for Libraries Press constitutes a violation of copyright. I want to protest in general at this pirating, without regular compensation, of editions of an author’s writings which he may not want to see in circulation. The Beacon Press of Boston has been guilty in my case of the same kind of thing.
