To the Editors:

On May 27, Social Research, the journal of the New School for Social Research in New York City, will host “Limiting Knowledge in a Democracy.” The conference brings together leading journalists, distinguished scholars, and policymakers to examine how the US government and other political and cultural institutions distort or otherwise affect the flow of information. The question at hand is, what limits on access to knowledge safeguard our democracy and what limits erode it? Participants include Peter Galison, Nicholas Lemann, Naomi Oreskes, Michael Oppenheimer, Eric Lichtblau, and Aryeh Neier. More information is available at www.socres.org/limitingknowledge.
