In response to:

New York: Conspicuous Construction from the April 2, 2015 issue

To the Editors:

Readers who were concerned by Martin Filler’s excellent article on the new high-rise buildings in New York [“New York: Conspicuous Construction,” NYR, April 2] should know about the group Committee for Environmentally Sound Development. They have been organizing in New York, circulating a petition, and contacting legislators to consider congestion, density, shadows, and sea rise in low-lying areas. In the summary of its aims, the organization states for example that “it is time to rethink our zoning and the manipulation of air rights that allow this unprecedented mega-development to be built.”

Readers who want to know more about this organization can write to P.O. Box 20464, Columbus Circle Station, New York, NY 10023-1492 or elfreud@aol.com.
