The Irving Howe Memorial Lecture

The thirteenth annual Irving Howe Memorial Lecture will be delivered by David Bromwich, Sterling Professor of English at Yale, on Tuesday, November 11 at 6:30 PM. It will take place in the Elebash Recital Hall at the CUNY Graduate Center, 365 Fifth Avenue (at 34th Street). The subject is "What Shakespeare's Heroes Learn." Professor Bromwich is the author of books about Hazlitt, Wordsworth, and modern poetry, as well as many essays and reviews.
The Howe lectures, sponsored by the Center for the Humanities, honor the late critic, editor, and political writer who taught at the City University of New York from 1963 to 1986.
