In response to Pain and Laughter
(June 14, 1979)
To the Editors:
Poor Mr. Pritchett [NYR, June 14] obviously doesn't know Mr. Sholom Aleichem from a loch im kop. To call this Yiddish writer "Aleichem" is like calling William S. Porter "O," or maybe "Henry." In the future, why not let him review books a little closer to his bones? V. S. Pritchett and Yiddishkeit? Gevalt!
