…Now you come, in broad daylight, to show us philistines that it can happen here: meaty, thoughtful, critical criticism of books; articulately highbrow but not esoteric; points of view that are individualistic but broadly appreciative rather than bitingly polimical.

From my limited knowledge of the book world it seems that, if you can survive for a time, you represent a virtual cultural revolution within the gates of American publishing.
