To the Editors:

Like (I hope) many, many others I am most grateful for your New York Review. I could wish some changes: a little less self-conscious editorializing in some of the reviews; notice of some “scholarly” books; a little less emphasis on the fact (if it is a fact) that you all are in there and we all are out here. But such matters, I suppose, will be attended to when/if you can push the project on. What is above all important is that at least one issue of the Review exists.
