As a long admirer of Mr. Wilson and Mr. Nabokov, I looked forward with much eagerness to reading the former’s views upon the latter’s translation of Pushkin. First, however, I had lunch. It was upon a full stomach then, that I realized that the whole article was a hoax and that Mr. Wilson had no hand in it whatsoever, that indeed it had been written by Mr. Nabokov as an appendix to Pale Fire and given to Mr. Wilson as a gesture of the friendship referred to in “Mr. Wilson’s first paragraph…
