In response to:

A True Poet from the January 14, 1965 issue

To the Editors:

I made two mistakes in my review of Philip Larkin’s The Whitsun Weddings. (I corrected them in proof, but the number had already gone to press.) First, I should have said that Larkin reviewed both Betjeman’s collected Poems and his Summoned by Bells (not that he reviewed the former twice). Second, I should have said that Larkin—unlike Hardy—would not have given capitals to Better and Worst (I have used a bad text of Hardy which has worst). My apologies.
