To the Editors:
My attention was drawn to a letter written to you, and published in your October 28 issue, by a Mr. Tom Gervasi, from Random House publishers.
While I am touched by his enthusiasm for the subject of his letter (me), allow me to correct some of the statements he has made and which are totally contrary to the facts.
I have never been, nor am I now, a “legal” or any other kind of “advisor” to the State Department or any other department of any government.
While I have been to North Vietnam, I haven’t “roamed freely about” in it, because it isn’t the kind of place where anybody (natives included) roams freely about.
But at least my name was spelled right.
