Crews’s very excellent review (August 18) of Steven Marcus’s admirable work, The Other Victorians: A Study of Sexuality and Pornography in Mid-Nineteenth Century England, may I suggest that readers interested in the subject might also consult Peter T. Cominos’s analysis and discussion of “Late Victorian Sexual Respecability and the Social System,” in the International Review of Social History, Vol. VIII (1963), Parts 1 and 2.
