A Special Supplement: Vietnam: How Not to Negotiate from the May 4, 1967 issue

To the Editors:

Theodore Draper [NYR, May 4] has gone to great lengths to expose the double talk of our government officials. He has succeeded in making his readers aware of the dreadful fact that one must be insane to be normal in an America attempting to paint the world red-white-and-blue. But there are pressing questions Mr. Draper leaves unanswered, e.g., what if Edgar Snow’s theory is right, namely that the war in Vietnam is but a prelude to a war with China? what if our attacks on North Vietnam are really means of provocation?
