In Answer to Solzhenitsyn from the June 13, 1974 issue                                                  

To the Editors:

Andrei D. Sakharov’s very important article “In Answer to Solzhenitsyn” [NYR, June 13] contains (page 4, third column, fifth line from the bottom) an expression that could be misleading. No one studies the synthesis of albumin, but in many research laboratories, in this country and in other countries, one studies the synthesis of proteins. The Russian word for both terms is the same: belók, hence the mistranslation.
