New Quarterly

To the Editors:

Your readers may want to know about Les Cahiers de l’Est, the new quarterly magazine in French devoted to Eastern European literature. It is a journal that will be publishing the writing of Hungarians, Poles, Romanians, Czechs, Bulgarians, Serbs, Croats, etc., including those who live abroad as well as those who are in Eastern Europe. A journal of this kind, in which the literature and ideas of Eastern European intellectuals, whether they are in the East or West, can be published and discussed, has been sadly lacking. Among those participating are Eugene Ionesco, Jan Kott, and Joseph Skvorecki. The Editor-in-Chief is the Romanian writer, Dimitrii Psepeneag. The first issue has just appeared. A subscription for one year costs $22.00 and a single copy $5.50; orders should be addressed to Editions Albatros, 14 rue de l’Armorique, Paris 15e, France.
