Big Deals from the June 10, 1976 issue

To the Editors:

There is an error in John Gardner’s review of William Gaddis’s novel, JR (NYR, June 10). Mr. Gardner refers to “The Wall Street broker, Amy Joubert’s father” seeing and hearing with transplanted eyes and ears. But the broker is Mr. Crawley, and the man referred to in this description (p. 708) is Governor Cates, Amy’s uncle and the chief officer of Diamond Cable. Amy’s father, Moncrieff, is an officer of the Corporation who has departed for a position in Washington. See p.94.
