In response to:

'Prince of the City' from the December 17, 1981 issue

To the Editors:

It is suggested in Jay Presson Allen’s letter [NYR, December 17, 1981] that one Judge William Knapp went “to some pains” to “communicate [his] satisfaction in the movie” Prince of the City [reviewed by Murray Kempton, NYR, October 22, 1981]. I have no way of knowing what “William” Knapp may have thought or said, but as his name is somewhat similar to mine, I would like to make it clear that I have never taken any position with respect to that movie—and don’t intend to.
