The Game of Lights from the May 10, 1984 issue

To the Editors:

In my review of Milan Kundera’s novel The Unbearable Lightness of Being, I called attention to the distinguished translation of Michael Henry Heim. I also spoke disparagingly of earlier translations, and in doing so I neglected to set apart the work of Peter Kussi, whose translations of Kundera’s Life is Elsewhere and The Farewell Party are very good. My apologies to Mr. Kussi, and my thanks to Robert Patterson, who brought this oversight to my notice.
