Heading for the Last Roundup from the May 9, 1985 issue

Following Robert Mazzocco’s essay on Sam Shepard [NYR, May 9] various publishers have brought to our attention the many books in which his work is available.

Bantam Books publishes the following: Sam Shepard: Seven Plays (including Buried Child, Curse of the Starving Class, The Tooth of Crime, La Turista, Tongues, Savage/Love, and True West) with an introduction by Richard Gilman, 336 pp., $6.95 (paper) and Fool for Love and Other Plays (including Angel City, Geography of a Horse Dreamer, Action, Cowboy Mouth, Melodrama Play, Seduced, and Suicide in B) with an introduction by Ross Wetzsteon, 307 pp., $6.95 (paper). A third volume of Shepard’s plays will be published by Bantam later this year. Fool for Love is also published separately in paperback by City Lights.

Performing Arts Journal Publications publishes Hawk Moon, 94 pp., $12.95 and $5.95 (paper), and American Dreams: The Imagination of Sam Shepard, 224 pp., $19.95 and $8.95 (paper).

The Ecco Press publishes Shepard’s screenplay for Paris, Texas, 511 pp., $16.50 (paper), with 400 color plates.
