To the Editors:

In association with Oxford University Press, the Refugee Studies Programme published in May 1988 the first issue of a new quarterly journal entitled the Journal of Refugee Studies. The Refugee Studies Programme, which started in 1982 at the University of Oxford, is an independent base for research, training and documentation. The Journal is intended to meet the rapidly growing demand for academic exploration of the complex problems of forced migration and national and international responses. It will provide a major focus for refugee research, consolidating and making more accessible hitherto scattered material. A special feature is “The Voice of the Refugees” where refugees describe the meaning of their own experience. The Journal is multi-disciplinary in outlook, reflecting the diverse range of perspectives on refugee issues, including those of anthropology, economics, education, health, international relations, law, politics, psychology and sociology. Articles should be submitted to the editor, Roger Zetter, c/o The Refugee Studies Programme, Queen Elizabeth House, 21 St. Giles, Oxford. Subscription rates: Volume 1, 1988 (4 issues): Institutions: US $62; Individuals US $31. Institutions in developing countries are entitled to subscribe at the individual rate.
