To the Editors:

As I hope other readers will advise you, the founder of the Lubavitch Hassidic movement was not named “Schneur Schneerson,” as reported in Alan Ryan’s essay on Isaiah Berlin [NYR, December 17, 1998]. His name was Schneur Zalman.
