An updated and revised edition of H.V.F. Winstone’s biography of Gertrude Bell, reviewed by Rory Stewart in the October 25 issue, was published in 2005 by Barzan, in Manchester, England, and is distributed in North America by Interlink. Barzan will publish an Arabic translation for distribution throughout the Middle East at the end of this year.
The third person in the photograph of Arthur Schlesinger Jr. and Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis on page 14 of the November 8 issue is Peter Shapiro, at the time a state assemblyman for Essex County, New Jersey.
