Readers may be interested to know that there will be a conference, “On Meyer Schapiro,” to celebrate the publication of Meyer Schapiro Abroad: Letters to Lillian and Travel Notebooks, excerpts from which were recently published in these pages [“Among Noble Monks,” NYR, December 18, 2008]. The conference will be held at Columbia University on Friday, January 30, from 2 to 5 PM in the Rosenthal Auditorium, 501 Schermerhorn Hall. It will be followed by a reception in the Kempner Gallery of Butler Library, which will feature an exhibition of pages from Meyer Schapiro’s travel notebooks (1926–1927).
