To the Editors:
Vintage port is not made (“declared”) in every year, and we are attempting to make a list of every vintage port ever declared. Alas, official pre–World War II and nineteenth-century records are imperfectly complete, so we must scavenge in other troves of data. It might be that some readers of The New York Review possess (copies of) diaries, menus, cellar books, or other papers mentioning particular vintage ports. We would love to hear from such readers: please contact us via jdawiseman@gmail.com.
