Russ Feingold in New York

On Wednesday, February 22, the Center for Public Scholarship at the New School presents an inaugural lecture in the Public Voices series by Russ Feingold. Former US Senator (D-WI) Feingold will discuss his new book, While America Sleeps: A Wake-up Call for the Post-9/11 Era, and former Senator Bob Kerrey will moderate. The event is free and begins at 6:00 PM and will be followed by a reception and book signing. More information is available at newschool.edu/cps/events.

On Friday, March 23, the Center for Public Scholarship at the New School presents Public Voices in Dialogue with guest speakers Steven Pinker and Robert Jay Lifton, who will talk about whether we live in a more or less violent time. This discussion follows from the exchange between Pinker and Lifton in The New York Times, “Sunday Dialogue: Do We Live in a Less Deadly Time, or Not?” (January 8, 2012). Pinker’s most recent book is The Better Angels of Our Nature: Why Violence Has Declined and Robert Jay Lifton is author, most recently, of Witness to an Extreme Century: A Memoir. The event is free and begins at 6:00 PM. More information is available at newschool.edu/cps/events.
