The Postcard Age: Selections from the Leonard A. Lauder Collection
How tepid and colorless the text message and the tweet seem compared to the hundreds of picture postcards, mostly dating from the turn of the twentieth century, arranged by thematic category: Paris, Style, Women, Healthy Bodies, Around the World. Picturesque vistas, exotic locales, sporting events, political figures, and the latest modern inventions appear on these works of popular art from an era when the desire to communicate inspired people to part with these mini-masterpieces of snail mail.
The MFA is open seven days a week. Standard admission is $25.
