‘Sara Berman’s Closet’

Through illustrations and hand-written text, Liana Finck presents her impressions of “Sara Berman’s Closet,” an exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum of Art through September 5, in the NYR Daily. In one of her texts she writes, “I grew up, slowly. I haven’t become more of a designer or more of a performer, but I have gotten better at seeing other people through the veil of my own self-consciousness. Maira’s son Alex now runs a space called Mmuseumm, in a freight elevator shaft in Chinatown. A couple of years ago, Alex and Maira reproduced Sara Berman’s closet in the space. Everything in it is white and beige and simple and beautiful and funny and beautifully organized. Now, the installation is at the Met. The other night, I went to sit near the closet and draw.”
