Vengeance is Hers

Just in time for Valentine’s Day, BAM has put together a series of films about female violence and revenge. Highlights include Pier Paolo Pasolini’s reimagining of Euripides’s Medea, featuring Maria Callas, and Chantal Akerman’s 1975 Jeanne Dielman, 23 Quai du Commerce, 1080 Bruxelles, where a patient camera follows a housewife’s daily routine and its unraveling. On February 14, the theater will host a special “Dinner and a Movie” showing of the 1941 screwball comedy The Lady Eve, with Barbara Stanwyck as a charming con artist who falls for her own bluff.
