Having failed to set La Croisette aflame last May at Cannes, Cronenberg’s utterly faithful and superbly alienated adaptation of Don DeLillo’s 2003 novel opens wide. I found the book extremely problematic; Cronenberg improves on it, which is to say his extremely dry science-fiction comedy is problematic in another way.
Opens in theaters around the US on August 17.
