Giovanna d’Arco in Chicago

Under its new director, Andreas Mitisek, this fall The Chicago Opera Theatre will give the first performance of the new critical edition of Verdi’s opera Giovanna d’Arco in the United States. The editor, Alberto Rizzuti, will, along with members of the cast, participate in a symposium about the opera at The University of Chicago on September 15 to make clear why a new edition was essential (the work had been devastated by contemporary censors).

The precise location of the lecture will be determined later this summer. For further information, contact Beth Parker at CIAO at The University of Chicago.
