Ken Jacobs at Anthology

Turning eighty this month, the dean of avant-garde film artists is being recognized by two New York institutions, The Museum of Modern Art and Anthology Film Archives. The MoMA show, which among other things emphasizes Jacobs’ investigation of the urban landscape, features new 3D works, a selection of early films, and a few of his favorite movies from the museum’s collection, including Helen Levitt’s In the Street; the Anthology program (titled “Insistent Clamor Forever”) offers an idiosyncratic career retrospective.

Tickets are available at the box office. For a complete schedule, see Anthology’s website.
