Life in Death: Still Lifes and Select Masterworks of Chaim Soutine
The Paul Kasmin Galley presents sixteen paintings by the Belarusian-born French artist Chaim Soutine (1893–1943), some of which have not been exhibited since the artist’s MoMA retrospective in 1950. Many depict the carcasses of animals or food, a subject that Soutine frequently turned to. The exhibition is the first in a series planned by the gallery on the artist and his influence.
