NYR Calendar of Coming Events

The New York Film Festival

Selected by J. Hoberman

September 28, 2012 – October 14, 2012

New York’s festival of festivals gives local premieres to the most feted movies last May at Cannes (Michael Haneke’s Amour, Leos Carax’s Holy Motors, Abbas Kiarostami’s Like Someone in Love, Christian Mungiu’s Beyond the Hills) along with some that have appeared since (new films by festival favorites Olivier Assayas, Noah Baumbach, Brian De Palma, and Alain Resnais). The documentary Leviathan has terrific word of mouth and the one movie I’ve seen, Portuguese director Miguel Gomes’s Tabu, is a spectacular NYFF debut.

Films show at the Walter Reade Theater, Alice Tully Hall, the Elinor Bunin Monroe film Center, and the Bruno Walter Auditorium. For a full schedule, and to purchase tickets, please see the NYFF website.
