A newly restored 1928 version of Helen Hunt Jackson’s massively popular late-nineteenth-century novel of Native American life in post-Mexican War southern California has its world premiere on native ground. Dolores Del Rio plays the tragic “half-breed” with Warner Baxter as her full-blooded husband. Shot silent, Ramona was originally released with a synchronized musical soundtrack.

Film historian Hugh Munro Neely will introduce the film. For more information, please visit the UCLA Film and Television Archive’s website.
