Reportero’: A Screening and Conversation

Since 2007, more than forty journalists covering the war on drugs in Mexico have vanished or been murdered, eclipsing the number of reporters killed in Afghanistan. In collaboration with Human Rights Watch and PBS’s POV documentary series, the New America Foundation will host a screening and discussion of Reportero, a documentary about a veteran reporter and his colleagues at an independent newsweekly in Tijuana who have refused to be silenced or intimidated. The screening will be followed by a discussion featuring Andres Martinez, Vice President of the New America Foundation, Nik Steinberg, America‚Äôs Division Researcher at Human Rights Watch, and Bernardo Ruiz, the director and producer of Reportero.

The event is free and open to the public, though attendees are required to RSVP via the events page: http://newamericanyc.org/events/event.php?id=34.
