Andrew Delbanco will deliver the inaugural Sternberg Family Lecture in Public Scholarship at the Colin Powell School for Civic and Global Leadership.
Delbanco is Mendelson Family Chair of American Studies and Julian Clarence Levi Professor in the Humanities at Columbia University. In 2011, President Barack Obama awarded him the National Humanities Medal. In 2001, he was named by Time magazine as “America’s Best Social Critic.” He has also received the Society of Columbia Graduates’ “Great Teacher Award.” He is a contributor to The New York Review and the author of many books, including, in 2012, College: What it Was, Is, and Should Be (Princeton University Press).
