The Young Girls of Rochefort’

Shot on location in the Atlantic port of Rochefort, Jacques Demy’s lavish follow up to The Umbrellas of Cherbourg is a nouvelle vague Alan Freed dance musical, complete with Cinemascope and Gene Kelly. Sweet and often hilarious, perhaps the greatest movie anachronism of 1967, the movie was scored by Michel Legrand and stars actual sisters Catherine Deneuve and Francoise Dorléac as twins.
