FAQ: Web site

The site doesn't look right on my computer. What's wrong with it?

If you're having trouble with the site, please let us know. Be sure to include in your message any relevant details about the browser you're using (AOL, Netscape, Internet Explorer, etc.), and the operating system (Mac OS, Windows), as well as the page on which you encountered the problem.

What's a "cookie"? Do I need to use them to use this site?

A cookie is a message sent to your browser from a Web server and stored on your computer's hard drive. Most Web sites use cookies. Cookies allow the server to keep track of your preferences -- for example, if you put something in your shopping cart, and then go to another page on the site, the server will use the cookie to remember what's in your cart when you want to check out.

You do not have to accept cookies from our server in order to use many sections of this site, but some sections may require the use of cookies. We do not use this technology to track your visits; if you're concerned about privacy, please see our statement about this site's policies with regard to personal information.

I forgot my password. Can you tell me what it is?

If you have forgotten your password, please go to the sign in page. Enter your email address, and type anything in the password box. On the next page our server will offer to reset your password and send you a new one.

I typed in my subscriber number and the site wouldn't accept it. Why not?

If your subscription has recently expired, your number will no longer be in the database. You can leave that part blank when renewing your subscription. Also be sure that you have entered your name exactly as it appears on your mailing label, omitting Jr., III, M.D., etc.
