Missing Issues Claims

The New York Review of Books makes every effort to ensure that your issues reach you promptly. Please contact us if you do not receive an issue. Our policy is to replace missing issues, provided they are claimed by subscribers within certain time limits specified below.

The New York Review of Books attempts to honor claims whenever possible; however, certain restrictions apply. For instance, claims cannot be honored if issues are missing because of failure to report a change of address or because a copy is lost or missing from your files.

When submitting a claim, identify the reason for the claim, and include the issue date or issue and volume number, customer name, and account number. (Your account number is located above your address on the mailing label and is printed on your renewal notices.) This information will help us ensure fast and efficient service.

We are unable to honor claims made sooner than two weeks from the cover date (see our publication schedule).

Please submit your claim within three months of publication date within the US and within six months of publication date outside the US. Claims made after will be charged $15.00/issue in the US and $25.00/issue elsewhere.

To submit a claim you should contact customer service
or use our feedback form and select “I am missing issues/not receiving my print subscription.”

If you are a non-US subscriber whose subscription is being shipped to a US freight forwarder (shipping agent or drop shipper) or subscription agent, The New York Review of Books is not responsible for final delivery from the freight forwarder to your organization.

Information for Subscription Agents

  • Complete back-volume orders will be shipped bulk by traceable carrier. The agent is responsible for paying all shipping costs, duties, and/or taxes in addition to the $15.00 / issue basic charge in the US.
  • Damaged-issue claims must be received within 20 days of delivery.
  • Please contact our Agency Department at agencyclaims@sfgnetwork.com.

Institutional Print Subscription Claims

Missed issues for institutions who subscribe directly through The New York Review of Books will be replaced one time only free of charge, and a maximum claim of three issues per subscriber per year will be accepted. A shipping/handling fee of $15.00/issue in the US and $25.00/issue elsewhere will be charged for each claimed issue over and above this limit.
