‘Aftermath: War is Only Half the Story’
For ten years, the Aftermath Project—founded by the documentary photographer Sara Terry—has supported work by new and established photojournalists covering the aftermath of conflict and war. The project’s anniversary show, and its accompanying book, showcase the work of more than fifty photographers working around the world, including Jim Goldberg on the Ukrainian landscape in the mid-2000s, Juan Arredondo on the Colombian cocaine trade, and Nina Berman on the fallout from nuclear testing in New Mexico. Louie Palu’s image of a US marine in Afghanistan appears alongside Thomas Powers’s piece in the April 19, 2018 issue.
