To the Editors:

In a review in your last number I appear to make the remarkable statement that “I would rather have written The Rise of David Levinsky than most recent fiction.” Even the staunchest admirers of David Levinsky must have found this a breathtaking judgment. In fact there was a printer’s error in the sentence, which should have read “…than most recent American-Jewish fiction.”
