To the Editors:
The trial of Vladimir Maramzin, who was arrested by the KGB in July, will take place on February 19. Since his arrest many prominent American writers have protested his treatment.
On December 30 Vladimir Nabokov sent the following telegram to the Leningrad Union of Writers: “Am appalled to learn that yet another writer is martyred just for being a writer. Maramzin’s immediate release indispensable to prevent an atrocious new crime.”
Protest should now be sent to the Leningrad Union of Writers, Voin Street, Leningrad, and also to President Podgorny, the Supreme Soviet, Moscow.
