Gary Gerstle

Gary Gerstle, the Paul Mellon Professor of American History Emeritus at the University of Cambridge, is the author of American Crucible: Race and Nation in the Twentieth Century (2001; revised edition 2017) and Liberty and Coercion: The Paradox of American Government from the Founding to the Present (2015). His latest book, The Rise and Fall of the Neoliberal Order: America and the World in the Free Market Era, will be published in April 2022.
