Rahmane Idrissa is a senior researcher at the African Studies Center of Leiden University, the Netherlands. He is the author of The Politics of Islam in the Sahel: Between Persuasion and Violence (2017) and L’Afrique pour les nuls (“Africa for Dummies,” 2015).
