J. M. Coetzee, who was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 2003, is currently a visiting professor of humanities at the University of Adelaide. His newest book, *Summertime*, was published in 2009.

Brian Urquhart is a former Undersecretary-General of the United Nations. His books include Hammarskjöld, A Life in Peace and War, and Ralph Bunche: An American Life. (April 2011)

Edmund White has written biographies of Jean Genet, Marcel Proust, and Arthur Rimbaud. He has also written several novels; the most recent is Jack Holmes and His Friend. He teaches writing at Princeton.

Joseph Cirincione is Senior Fellow and Director for Nuclear Policy at the Center for American Progress. His book Bomb Scare: The History and Future of Nuclear Weapons was published last spring. (March 2008)

Julian Bell is a painter and writer living in Lewes, England. 
He is the author of What Is Painting? and Mirror of the World: A New History of Art. (March 2012)

Richard Horton is a physician. He edits The Lancet, a weekly medical journal based in London and New York. He is also a visiting professor at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.

Larry McMurtry is the author of twenty-four novels, including The Last Picture Show, Terms of Endearment, Lonesome Dove, winner of the 1986 Pulitzer Prize for Fiction, and, most recently, Folly and Glory. His nonfiction works include a biography of Crazy Horse, Walter Benjamin at the Dairy Queen, Paradise, and Sacagawea’s Nickname: Essays on the American West (published by New York Review Books). He lives in Archer City, Texas.

Jeremy Waldron is University Professor at New York University School of Law and Chichele Professor of Social and Political Theory at All Souls College, Oxford. His most recent book is Torture, Terror, and Trade-Offs: Philosophy for the White House.
